We held an on-site lecture project, "Sidotti and the Villagers of Yakushima," atelementary schools, junior high schools, and high schools in Yakushima.

As part of a project commissioned by Kagoshima Prefecture, “Project to raise awareness ofSidotti's achievements in spreading Western culture,'' 38 sixth graders from Anbo Elementary School attended on November 1st, 65 first-year students from Yakushima High School attended on November 5th, and 81 all students from Anbo junior high school on on November 18th, in classrooms and gymnasiums.

The lecturer was Tomoko Furui, the Director of the board, and the class title was “Sidotti and the Villagers of Yakushima.''

In the questionnaires completed after classes at each school, we received many comments such as “I want to know more about Sidotti'' and “I'm glad I was able to learn about local history.'' The students who received the booklet used as a teaching material, “The Story of Sidotti ʻs Landing on Yakushima'', said that the content was easy to understand.
