Sidotti Museum Construction Report – June 12

We carried out the work of pouring concrete into the foundation formwork. Before

starting, we all faced the mountains and gave a respectful bow, offering salt and

shochu to seek the blessing of Yakushima’s Mountain gods.

The team was an international mix of Americans, Portuguese, New Zealander, and

Japanese. Together, they formed an efficient flow: transporting the concrete from

the mixer in wheelbarrows, carefully pouring it into every corner of the wooden

forms, compacting it with a vibrator for strength, and finally leveling the surface with

precision. It was truly a collaborative effort.
