An event commemorating the 30th anniversary of the registration as a World Natural Heritage Site was held at the Yakushima Environmental and Cultural Village Center. Tomoko Furui, the Director of NPO had the opportunity to say hello to the Governor of Kagoshima Prefecture, Koichi Shiota.
Coincidentally, Sumiko Furukawa, who was in charge of translating the Italian version of Tomoko Furui's "The last Missionary, Sidotti", worked with Mr. Shiota for three years at the Japanese Embassy in Rome. When Tomoko Furui conveyed the relationship, the governor seemed surprised.
