It was exactly one year ago that the decision to hold this event at the Italy Pavilion
was made. Since then, we steadily prepared step by step, until the long-awaited day
finally arrived. Throughout this journey, we overcame many challenges. Even on the
very day of the event, we faced an unexpected last-minute issue when the start was
delayed by 30 minutes due to venue circumstances. Yet, thanks to the dedication of
our staff, volunteers, and supporters, each of whom carried out their tasks with
remarkable efficiency, we were able to open on time without further trouble.
The program consisted of one hour of talks by the panelists, followed by a 30-
minute panel discussion. Participants gave us many words of praise, and the overall
impression was that the event was a resounding success. The event was also
projected onto large outdoor monitors, allowing many visitors at the Expo venue to
watch it.We also owe much to the section staff of the Italy–Holy See Pavilion. From obtaining staff passes to handling the monitor and lighting arrangements, everything was coordinated solely through English email exchanges without rehearsal, and yet the
event proceeded smoothly—a result that felt almost miraculous.
For us, being able to present the story of Sidotti at such an international venue, and
especially at the most popular pavilion of the Expo, was an invaluable experience.
That a small NPO from Yakushima achieved this accomplishment will surely serve as
a powerful source of encouragement for our future activities.
For those who could not attend in person, we are pleased to share—with the kind
permission of the Italy Pavilion—a recording of the event as it appeared on the
Pavilion’s official website, now available on YouTube.
We warmly invite you to watch it.
