This concert came about thanks to Sara, who usually lives at an ashram in India and happened to drop by the museum. The Baul are people who follow the "Baul path," a mystical tradition handed down for generations in the Bengal region of India. Sara first went to India in 2008, where she was captivated by the way the Baul sing, pray, and celebrate, and she went on to follow the Baul path herself. Playing traditional Indian instruments, she sang of love in a voice so beautiful and trembling it was almost heartbreaking, and the audience of about 25 was visibly moved. After the performance, everyone gathered around Sara for a time of conversation over chai and herbal tea.
