地域のお年寄りを記念館にご招待しました。We welcomed local senior citizens to the Sidotti Museum.

記念館が建つ小島区の「鈴川げんきサロン」の方々11名をお招きして、古居智子館長によるギャラリー・トーク、そして、その後にコーヒー、デザートを囲んでの茶話会を開催しました。

今から25年ほど前、カトリック屋久島教会に在勤されていたコンタリーニ神父の思い出や、上陸記念碑が建てられた頃の話など、お年寄りの記憶のなかに生きている数々の貴重なエピソードをお聞きする絶好の機会ともなりました。

We invited eleven members of the "Suzukawa Genki Salon," a community group from Koshima, the district where the Sidotti Museum stands. Director Tomoko Furui led a gallery talk, followed by a gathering with coffee and desserts.

The visit also became a wonderful opportunity to hear precious memories still alive in our guests' recollections—stories of Father Contarini, who served at the Catholic Yakushima Church some 25 years ago, and accounts from the time the landing memorial monument was erected by previous Yaku Town.
