5月24日、記念館のグランド・オープニング・イベントは大盛況のうちに終了しました。ご協力いただいた方に心から感謝いたします。

最後まで天候が懸念されましたが、オープニング・イベントの当日は、雨も降らず、無事に開催することができました。

来場者数は約350名、島内のアーティストの演奏、主催および来賓の祝辞、国立科学博物館人類研究部の坂上和弘氏と大学講師のカトリーナ・カパッソ氏、古居智子館長によるミニ・トーク、そして記念植樹後のしょうぶ学園otto&erabの屋久島、シドッティをテーマにしたこの日だけのオリジナル・音パフォーマンスには、多くの方が詰め掛けました。また、お楽しみ抽選会は大いに盛り上がりました。その後、館内ギャラリーで開催したシンポジウムにも、2５名ほどの方が熱心に耳を傾けてくださいました。

カフェ・シドッティが提供したパニーニやデザート、飲み物もほぼ完売いたしました。

多くの方のご参加、ご支援、そして開催を支えてくださったボランティアの方々に心から感謝いたします。

まだ歩み始めたばかりですが、皆さまのお力添えがあってこそ、この記念館は育っていくものだと思っています。これからもどうぞ温かく見守っていただき、またお気軽にお立ち寄りいただけたら、と願います。

Grand Opening Event — A Great Success

On May 24th, the grand opening event of the Sidotti Museum concluded with great success. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported us.

The weather had been a concern right up until the last moment, but the day of the opening event passed without rain, and we were able to hold it without a hitch. Approximately 350 visitors attended.

The program featured performances by local island artists, congratulatory remarks from the organizers and guests of honor, a mini-talk by Kazuhiro Sakaue of the Department of Anthropology at the National Museum of Nature and Science, university lecturer Carolina Capasso, and Museum Director Tomoko Furui, followed by a commemorative tree planting. The original sound performance by Shobu Gakuen's otto&erab — created exclusively for this day and themed around Yakushima and Sidotti — drew a large and enthusiastic crowd. The prize lottery was also a lively highlight of the event. Afterward, approximately 25 guests listened with great interest to the symposium held in the museum gallery.

The panini, desserts, and drinks offered by Café Sidotti were nearly sold out entirely.

We are deeply grateful to all who joined us, offered their support, and to the volunteers whose efforts made this event possible.

We have only just taken our first steps, but we believe this Sidotti Museum will grow and flourish through the continued support of everyone around us. We hope you will continue to watch over us warmly, and that you will feel welcome to stop by whenever you wish.
