「屋久島シドッテイ記念館」は、NPO法⼈やくしま未来⼯房が運営する市⺠参加型の⽂化施設です。作家古居智⼦の知⾒をベースに、イタリア⼈宣教師シドッティと島⺠の交流史を軸として屋久島の歴史遺産を未来に継承することを⽬的としています。 歴史、⾃然、科学、⺠俗、芸術など多岐にわたる分野の学びと交流の場として、広く愛され、深く共感していただける施設を⽬指しています。 ギャラリー・カフェ・ショップ・庭園が⼀体となり、歴史好きの⽅から外国⼈旅⾏者まで、あらゆる⼈が「もう⼀度来たい」と思える場所を創造していきます。
"Sidotti Museum is a community-based cultural facility operated by Yakushima Future Works, a nonprofit organization.
Rooted in the knowledge and writings of author Tomoko Furui, the Museum is dedicated to preserving Yakushima's historical heritage for future generations - centered on the story of Italian missionary Sidotti and his remarkable exchanges with the island's people.
We strive to be a place of learning and connection across history, nature, science, folklore, and the arts - a facility that is widely cherished and deeply resonant with all who visit.
Our gallery, café, shop, and gardens come together as one - creating a destination that welcomes everyone, from local residents and history enthusiasts to international travelers,
and leaves every visitor thinking: I want to come back ."

屋久島在住の著述家・⽂化活動家。シドッティの⾜跡を追い、約23年にわたり調査・研究を続けてきた。本プロジェクトの発案者であり、NPO法⼈の⽴ち上げから記念館の建設・運営まで、すべての推進役を担う。

NPO法⼈やくしま未来⼯房について About NPO Yakushima Future Works
NPO法⼈やくしま未来⼯房は、任意団体として７ヶ⽉の活動を経て、2022年5⽉、地域住⺠有志によって設⽴された特定⾮営利団体です。
屋久島の住⺠、屋久島出⾝者並びに国内外の屋久島に好意と興味を寄せる⼈々を対象に、地域の社会教育の推進と⽂化の創造を図り、併せてSDGsの⽬標理念に沿った持続可能な世界を実現するための事業を⾏い、また、これらの成果を世界に発信し、もって社会全体の利益に寄与することを⽬的としています。
設⽴以来、活動拠点となる「屋久島シドッティ記念館」建設を⽬指して、多くの⽅々や団体から寄付⾦・⺠間助成⾦・協⼒⾦、そして数々の無償のご⽀援を賜りながら、⿅児島、⻑崎、東京、⼤阪など各地でパネル展や講演会を開催し、屋久島の“歴史・ひと・⾃然”の物語を発信してきました。
2025年度には⼤阪・関⻄万博イタリア・バチカン館においてもシンポジウムを開催しました。
"Yakushima Future Works” is a nonprofit organization formally established in May 2022 by local volunteers, following seven months of activities as an informal group.
Our work is dedicated to people of Yakushima, those with roots on the island, and all who hold affection and interest in Yakushima -both in Japan and abroad. We aim to advance social education and foster cultural creation within the community, while pursuing projects aligned with the SDGs to help realize a sustainable world. We share the fruits of these efforts with the world, contributing to the benefit of society as a whole.
Since our founding, we have worked toward the construction of Yakushima Sidotti Museum as our central base of activities. Supported by generous donations, private grants, contributions, and countless acts of pro bono assistance, we have organized panel exhibitions and lectures in Kagoshima, Nagasaki, Tokyo, Osaka, and beyond - sharing the stories of Yakushima's history, people, and nature.
In 2025, we hosted a symposium at the Italy-Vatican Pavilion of Expo Osaka-Kansai."
